Perfectionism As Avoidance
When the standard for communication is high, there is always a reason not to speak yet: the thinking isn't complete, the evidence isn't sufficient, the words aren't precise enough. A kind of intellectual hoarding: knowing a great deal, having worked through it carefully, and then not offering it because the conditions for sharing never feel quite right. This is the shadow not of incompetence but of its opposite - a standard so high that it becomes a reason to withhold, stalling growth in the process.
Shame & Self Judgement
You post, and then quickly delete. You overthink it all. Masking, not really saying what you mean to say but instead what you believe others want to hear - gatekeeping your best stuff. A tyrant living inside that silences you - creating a gap between the depth of what you understand and the amount you're willing to offer.
Fear of Success
This one sounds counter-intuitive but is more common than you think. The media, storytelling and movies portray the rich and money as something evil and this directly creates tension between our financial desires and the deeply engrained biological need to fit in. If you had a childhood where parents or caretakers shut down your achievements, this wound will keep a glass ceiling over your head.
Cancel Culture & Rejection
You post, and no one cares. You send emails and, crickets. Experience this enough times and you'll soon begin to prefer not trying at all than the searing pain of dejection. You'll come up with valid excuses why you can't make the video, but deep down you can't stomach the lack of external validation because your work matters so much to you.
I CHOOSE TO BE SEEN
The moment we say:
“I’ll start… tomorrow”.
Or
"This needs more tweaking."
Perfectionism and fear have already woven the same thread.
"Tomorrow I will launch the ads."
"Tomorrow I will make the reel."
"Tomorrow I will send the email."
